Privacy Policy — Sharda Panchang

Sharda Panchang ("the App") is a Hindu lunar calendar (Panchang) app published by Misri Library. This policy explains what information the App collects, how it is used, and your choices. By using the App you agree to this policy.

In short: the App does not require an account and does not have a sign-in feature. All of your data — saved dates, city, and settings — is stored only on your device. The App does not run its own servers and does not upload your data anywhere.

1. Information collected

• Saved Tithi entries: names, dates/times of birth (or a directly-entered tithi), and birth city that you add on the Tithi tab. Stored only on your device.
• Preferences: your chosen Home and Away cities, theme, sunrise basis, lunar month system, hidden festivals, and calendar view — stored only on your device.

The App does not collect your name, email address, or any account information, because it has no sign-in feature.

2. How information is used

• To calculate and display panchang, tithi, and festival dates for your chosen city.
• To show your saved Tithi entries and their yearly occurrence.
• To send local reminder notifications (Tithi and Festival reminders), scheduled and computed entirely on your device — the App does not run a server that pushes notifications to you.

3. Third-party services

The App does not use analytics, crash reporting, advertising, or any cloud storage/authentication service. It does not currently rely on any third-party service.

4. Sharing your data

The App has an Export and Share link/QR feature (Tithi tab) that lets you deliberately create a file or link containing your chosen Tithi entries, so you can back them up or send them to someone else. This only happens when you explicitly choose to export or share — the App never does this automatically or in the background.

Exporting or sharing hands the data (as raw JSON text, or as a link/QR code encoding that data) to your device's own share sheet, where you choose the destination — for example Messages, email, or AirDrop. Once you pick a destination, the data leaves your device to wherever you sent it; the App itself does not upload it anywhere or send it to us.

Before exporting or sharing, you choose which entries to include, and whether the export should include dates/times of birth or omit them — a "Tithi only" or "no DOB" export/link contains just the name and tithi, with no birth date or time.

5. Data storage, security, and retention

• All data described above, including dates/times of birth, is stored locally on your device using the operating system's standard app-local key-value storage (SharedPreferences on Android/iOS). It is not encrypted separately from your device's own storage/OS-level protections.
• Your data persists until you clear it (e.g. via the "Clear All" option), or until you uninstall the App.
• Because nothing is uploaded, the App has no way to back up or recover your data if you uninstall it or lose your device — use the Export/Share feature if you want a backup.

6. Your choices

• Notifications: you can disable Tithi or Festival reminders individually in Settings → Notifications, or revoke notification permission in your device settings.
• Clear your data: use "Clear All" on the Tithi tab, or uninstall the App to remove all locally stored data.

7. Children's privacy

The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them (the App does not collect personal information from any user, as described above).

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance.
